The superb Short Span grip prolific Natal Zaks’ Picture for six tracks of whirring, dub-wise minimal techno x propulsive midwestern biz with heavy, Phylyps Trak stylings.

Rolling on from a banner ’25 program of work by Sa Pa, Conna Hardaway, Yu Su and many more, Matthew Kent’s label chases the renowned Danish club dragon to steady variants of a late ‘90s / mid ‘00s sound in Picture’s ‘Eeeeeeee’. Since 2011, across a plethora of pseudonyms – notably Central, remixer of Ciel and Shanti Celeste –  and behind the labels Help Recordings and Farver, one Natal Zaks has been a main player in Danish club music and beyond, including production chops on Erika De Casier’s breakthru ‘Sensational.’

His latest speaks to a fine thread of inspiration in styles of C.21st techno defined by depth and texture – not just speed. At an insistent momentum on ‘Eeeeeeee’ he gives locked-in dancers something to get right into, luring into the shivering, Brinkmann-esque grind of ‘Waaaaaaa’, and teasing bodies between he Atobe-alike feathered chord and kick drum interplay of ‘Tyyyyyy’ and ‘Yeeeeeee’, shaving off the bass in a suspenseful DJ tool ‘Heeeeeee’, and swimming to the deep end of dub techno on ‘Keeeeeee’ and ‘Qeeeeeee’.
